It is known in the Newborn Genre of Photography that capturing a Newborn between 7 and 10 days after birth is the best time ……….. This little one at 3.5 weeks old, proves this approach to not always be right!

Spontaneous baby smiles – are they merely the visible reaction to wind or are they really dreaming? 🙂 Either way when you see them smile I am sure you as the parent are smiling on the inside as well as the outside!

Sweet Eva!

Choosing to photograph on location at a clients home allows for portraits that would potentially not be possible when photographing at a studio. Often nurseries are decorated with beautiful decals, furniture and toys that can be arranged to create a unique portrait.

What about the train tracks!!

I would say most boys love playing with a train set so why not incorporate big brother with his favourite play time toys with his newborn baby sister!!

Blob, Swish, My paintbrush goes,
What it will paint, I do not know!
Blue, Red, Yellow and Green,
It’ll be the best painting
you’ve ever seen!

Is it a shark, a rocket, a kangaroo?
A car, the beach or dinosaur poo?!

What ever it is,
You’ll love it, you’ll see,
Because I did it for you,
And it was painted by me!

It’s not my usual family portrait is it!

Built by my partner Troy Morrison, this Steampunk Whale sculpture has been taking form over the last year and while it’s not quite finished we had to photograph it as is, to enter it into the Sculptures by the Sea this week.

What is SteamPunk?

Steampunk is an inspired movement of creativity and imagination. With a backdrop of either Victorian England or America’s Wild West at hand, modern technologies are re-imagined and realized as elaborate works of art, fashion, and mechanics. If Jules Verne or H.G. Wells were writing their science fiction today, it would be considered “steampunk.”

The body of the whale is made from an old Ford Gearbox while the rest of the whale comprises of Copper and vintage parts from trains, WW2 planes, cars and boats.

You can see the work in progress pictures at www.1969design.net where you can also read further information pertaining to the whale sculpture.
